Wakatobi is a Level II Regions in the province of Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia. This district capital is located at Wangi-Wangi, established under Law No. 29 of 2003 dated December 18, 2003. The total area of 823 km ² and in 2003 a population of 91,497 inhabitants, consisting of 44,843 male and female inhabitants 46,654 inhabitants.
Wakatobi is a national park established in 1996, with a total area of 1.39 million ha, about marine biodiversity, scale and condition of coral; which occupies one of the highest priority position of marine conservation in Indonesia.
Wakatobi GDP based on current prices in 2003 amounted to Rp. 179,774.04 million, slightly higher than the previous year is Rp. 160,473.67 million. Based on current prices, GDP Map Wakatobi in the year 2002 amounted to 1,833,775.23 dollars, became 2,026,993.35 rupiah in the year 2003 or increased by 10.54 percent.
Wakatobi archipelago located in the southeast peninsula of Sulawesi. And when viewed from a map of Southeast Sulawesi Province is geographically located in southern equator, stretching from north to south between 5:00 º - º 6:25 LS (along ± 160 km) and stretches from west to east between º 123.34 - 124.64 º BT (along ± 120 km).
